19

19.  It's the 8th smallest prime number, the minimum legal age to buy tobacco in Alaska, the extra hole in miniature golf, the height in feet of Abraham Lincoln's memorial, and the age I was (and still am) when I got married.  I was not pregnant, nor was I forced.  We were tired of dating and were ready for the real thing.

That being said, I want to chronicle all the adventures and trials that come from being young and married.  Living in a basement apartment in the DC area has it's adventures as well.  To start, I have come up with 10 things I have learned in the past 3 months.  This is not everything, but it's a start :)

10 Things I’ve Learned Since I Got Married

  1. No matter how many times you straighten the bedroom, it’s always a mess of clothes by the next morning.
  1. Grocery shopping for 2 does not need to cost $300, but it easily can
  2. I need to stay away from Target
  3. You can easily come up with an excuse to buy that new decoration (Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Monday, Tuesday…)
  1. Painting is only fun for the first 5 minutes
  2. A cabinet does not need doors, it looks just fine as a shelf
  3. Timing dinner being ready and the arrival of my husband from work is an art
  4. Two people cannot eat a whole cake by themselves, despite noble efforts
  5. Trash day is always the same day of the week.  It never changes.  (I still have notlearned why we keep missing it)
  1. Non-verbals can be misread veeeerrrry easily

  2. Happy to read this! It was very cute. Although....#7....ask if it's as important to Jon as it is to you...It was about 3 years before I realized that Mark is ok with me not having it ready exactly when he got home. I was stressing myself over something unnecessary (in our marriage, that is). Save the stress for Thanksgiving & Christmas dinners! :)
